Contracted to design and build a structure for three lift shafts, Rison Ltd is proud to be involved in this prestigious redevelopment of an iconic building in Gibraltar’s Old Town with its importance to Gibraltar’s architectural heritage.

Our part in the project involved the designing and building of a structure for 3 lift shafts, including the landings, and ancillary structure to support the concrete cladding elements. A hot dipped galvanised bolted design, with galvanised steel decking on the landings.

We have also designed & supplied stainless steel drying rack & air-conditioning surrounds

Description

Our “open” crane shelter structure on the South Mole was constructed to withstand a severe marine environment. Based on a hot dipped galvanised steel bolted design with wall rails and purlins to support trapezoidal sheet cladding finished in a spherical edge, our selection of materials will be able to withstand the extreme temperatures, humidity, wind gusts and salinity.

This commission required us to design and build the roof trusses and a lean-to shelter for a “stay and play” building. Of particular interest was the built up sandwich roof cladding which is comprised of a galvanised internal liner tray, rockwool and a galvanised profiled sheet with PVDF finish.

In addition to this, we designed and built a mezzanine structure to the hockey stand building and an external walkway using hot dipped galvanised steel profiles fixed to the existing structure, galvanised steel decking and bespoke hot dipped galvanised steel “treads” to provide essential slip resistance to the walkway.

Description

This fascinating project required us to design and build a warehouse with a ridged roof inside a chamber in Hays Level World War 2 tunnels. We created a steel frame fixed to a concrete slab, with pertinent wall rails & roof purlins. The project included insulated roof and wall panels, including all the flushing and trims, steel access doors and frame and ancillary access gates to the chamber. We had to overcome access logistical issues to ensure the materials could be supplied to the location as well as environmental challenges – working in confined spaces with minimal air circulation, our materials being especially designed to ensure that they can withstand the site atmospheric conditions.

We were required to design and build a structural truss for Anderson House, a residential apartment block, with logistical challenges. We achieved this using 9m long hot dipped galvanised structural steel trusses with sectioned cold-formed steel purlins. We also designed and supplied stainless steel drying rack surrounds and steel ventilation grilles.

We have provided a number of refuse cubicles in a variety of locations, using a structural steel hot dipped galvanised bolted design. Our work included ancillary items such as steel cladding, heavy-duty doors, frames and hinges, steel vents, & roof system.

This project called for a design & build steel frame and canopy at the Bayside Sports Centre hockey pitch; the frame was a hot dipped galvanised steel bolted design fixed with holding down bolts to concrete bases, with galvanised steel profile sheeting with a PVDF finish.

Our contribution to Gibraltar’s Park and Ride scheme car park was to provide the structural steel frame to the top deck, internal and external structural steel stairs, and the bespoke balustrade stair panels and internal carpark steel railings.

Description

This project involved providing a design and build structural steel walkway to existing building. Based in the upper town with no road access, the logistics of this job were a feat on their own. Using the existing tunnel network in the rock to access the site and using a purpose built rope slider, we managed to deliver the materials and equipment down to site.

The walkway itself is a bolted design structure, with its steel stairs & balustrade designed to emulate an 18th century period design concept.

Description

We provided the Level 5 steel structure with pre-cast concrete, external steel stairs, the roof structure inclusive of its cladding, including bespoke louver cladding for ventilation and its auxiliary structure. Because of its location at Gibraltar’s harbour front, materials were chosen and treated to resist the marine weather conditions.
